The Latin American Liberator Simon Bolivar in Miami: Six Images, Five Locations

This particular study demonstrates the existence of the image of Simon Bolivar in Miami, represented in three different statues, one ceramic mosaic, and two portraits, all of them established in different zones of the Miami-Dade County area in Florida. This study also offers historical information about the following artistic representations: (1) Bolivar's bust in downtown Miami, located on East Flagler Street and US1; (2) the pedestrian monument of Bolivar at Bayside Park; (3) Bolivar's bust in Miami Beach at the Bass Museum's park; (4) Bolivar's ceramic mosaic located at the Richter Library at the University of Miami; and (5) Bolivar's portraits in the Latin America and Caribbean Center's library at Florida International University. This article explains the proliferation and importance of these images of the Liberator in Miami, Florida, territory surrounded and visited by people from Latin America, and includes photographs of each of these six images to inform the reader in a visual way.
