Yacht mast and rigging system software for design and analysis

摘要
The objective of this work is to develop a software system MaRSoft, which aims to perform an automated parametric yacht mast and rigging system design utilizing the commercially available software SOLIDWORKS and ANSYS. Multiple mast and rigging system configurations, are designed, modified and analysed. The finite-element model includes tension-only link elements for the rigging system as well as multilayer composite orthotropic shell elements for the mast. The materials used are steel, aluminium and composite. The finite element analyses performed are static, linear and non-linear. The structural response of the yacht mast and rigging system identifies the most acceptable configuration for the designer requirements, and consolidates a vast amount of design output for further detailed engineering. The developed software system MaRSoft is flexible, highly automated and can be used to design and analyse different configurations of mast and rigging systems.
