Investigation on Range Sidelobe Modulation Effect of Co-designed Radar-Communications Shared Waveforms

摘要
The growing demand for radio frequency (RF) spectrum requires the sharing of frequency bandwidths among different users. Variant signaling strategies have been proposed to embed communication information into the radar waveforms to achieve coexistence between radar function and communication systems, which has alleviated the competition for spectrum resources. However, the waveform changes in dual function systems may affect the radar performance. In this paper, we investigate the RSM effect of two commonly-used information embedding radar waveforms, which is never discussed in previous works. Simulation results show that the two sets of co-designed radar-communications shared waveforms can achieve good radar detection performance when we employ appropriate processing methods. Both schemes are discussed in pulse-Doppler radar systems equipped with a uniform linear array of N antennas.
