Mechanism of Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering and Its Application to Highly Sensitive Protein Detection

摘要
Enormous SERS "hot spots" may emerge among metal aggregates formed on the edges between the two metal layers and also between the junctions of metal nanoparticles in the second metal layer. High-quality SERRS/SERS spectra with both high sensitivity and reproducibility were obtained, which are crucial for an analytical method. By using these metal sandwich substrates, SERS-based versatile protein detections have been effectively carried out. Ten times stronger SERRS spectra can be obtained from the Au/Ag sandwiches as compared to those from the Au/Au sandwiches, and the detection limits of the present method are much lower than those of conventional fluorescence and surface plasmon resonance based detection methods for the similar targets.
