摘要
As the exact distributions of the pressure and friction on the disc-jaw interface are not known in the cracked Brazilian disc test, we analyze their influence on determining mode I fracture toughness. The analytic solution of stress intensity factor is derived for the arbitrarily distributed pressure and friction by using the power series expansion technique and weight function method. This investigation shows that such influence should be considered for the case of large contact angle and long crack. The mode I fracture toughness of shale is determined indirectly from the test.
