Access Selection Algorithm Based on Traffic Distribution with Delay Optimization in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks

Existing access selection algorithms in heterogeneous wireless networks (HWNs) face major problems connecting mobile users to wireless networks with a single transmission link and fail to optimize the transmission performance of system and the quality of service (QoS) of traffic flow. To solve these problems, this paper analyzes both the models for HWNs and link rate, and proposes an access selection algorithm based on traffic distribution. Specifically, the algorithm maximizes the transmission rate for system, supports parallel multi-link access in accessing process, and distributes the traffic flow of users to achieve an optimal transmission rate reasonably, as well as minimizing transmission delays of such traffic. The algorithm is also analyzed on a simulated platform and compared with other algorithms. Simulation results demonstrate the algorithm can effectively enhance the transmission performance of system and reducing transmission delay of traffic.
