Risk assessment resources on the World-wide Web (WWW)

There is a wealth of useful information on the World-wide Web (WWW); the challenge is to find it. Web sites that have proven useful for completing human health and ecological risk assessments in Canada and the United States are provided here, along with a brief description and critique of their contents. These include sites for federal governments, non-governmental organizations, research institutions, and universities. The diversity of current information available on these sites includes guidance documents, databases, screening benchmarks, models, toxicity information, and even risk assessment reports. Many of the web sites described in this article may be familiar to risk assessment professionals and risk managers; however, it is anticipated that there are a few new and novel sites identified that will be considered worth a visit. The authors have compiled a list of useful resources, and identified the relevance of each, to assist risk assessors and managers in their professional activities.
