Modal combination method in seismic analysis of both classically and non-classically damped structures

摘要
A step-by-step approximate procedure is presented to take into consideration high frequency modes neglected in the modal analysis of both classically and non-classically damped structures. This procedure that numerically solves the improved differential motion equations on the reduced subspace, can be considered an extension of the traditional mode acceleration method (MAM), which is very effective only for structural systems subjected to forcing functions described by analytical laws.
