摘要
Building Information Modelling (BIM) is identified as a key technology and process to improve productivity and increase integration across various disciplines throughout the construction value chain. Successful BIM implementation depends on continuous support from the different disciplines and especially the main role player which is the government. Thus, for a successful BIM implementation, there must be targeted BIM initiatives at national level to ensure wider adoption of BIM. Based on extensive literature reviews from such as reports, journal articles, international conference papers and materials available on the internet; this paper describes what are initiatives have been taken from the various countries around the world; namely USA, UK, Finland, Hong Kong and Singapore, which are known as earlier BIM adopters Through the findings for an excellent and operative implementation of BIM in the country, the public and private sectors should interrelate and collaborate to develop and establish salient policies; frameworks and guidelines; efficient technologies system in exchange information; and BIM standards contract for the implementation of BIM. These experiences may shed some light on the initiatives, strategies and action that must be put in place for BIM to be holistically implemented in Malaysia.
