摘要
This paper explains and demonstrates the process of English textbooks development in China Colleges. This process is involved in the cognitive motivation concerning ways of thinking and innovation. And the development of textbooks shows a thinking tendency. Accordingly, we put forth a hypothesis "the continuum of teaching material development". It is to break linguistic categories and to establish new categories, such as the establishment of nominalization and non-personal subjects in various registers like technology, law, news texts, advertising, public speech, essays and etc. This study is a combination of linguistic theories and stylistic competence.
