Mn-Ga alloys were produced by melt-spinning followed by various heat treatments. Although the as-rapidly quenched Mn-Ga melt-spun ribbons showed low remanence and coercivity, annealing of the ribbons resulted in an increase in the remanence and coercivity values. The optimally annealed Mn(70)Ga(30)melt-spun ribbon with the DO22-Mn3Ga phase exhibited a coercivity of 5.7 kOe. The Curie temperature of the DO22-Mn3Ga phase was found to be around 730 K.
