Facile preparation of Copper nanaoparticles using Coccinia grandis fruit extract and its application towards the reduction of toxic nitro compound

摘要
In this present study, we report a green synthesis of Cu nanoparticles using Coccinia grandis fruit extract. The aqueous copper ions when exposed to fruit extract were reduced Cu2+ to Cu-0 and resulted formation of Cu nanoparticles. From the UV spectroscopy, appearance of an absorbance at 600 nm confirmed the formation Cu NPs. The synthesized NPs were well characterized using TEM (Transmission Electron Microscope) HRTEM (High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscope), XRD (X-ray Diffraction), FT-IR (Fourier Transform Infrared) and EDX (Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy) technique. The Cu NPs was successfully applied as a catalyst in the reduction of toxic nitro compound like paranitrophenol. The NPs have showed an excellent catalytic activity in the reduction process.
