摘要
A new practical way to characterize the degree of pulse distortion introduced by the UWB LNA is discussed. The real FCC compliance UWB pulse is used as the characterization source. The pulse response characterization procedure is carried on the author designed UWB LNA by using a time domain sampling oscilloscope with the delays and losses of cables and probes corrected in frequency domain. The correction procedure is verified by using a "through" standard. The exact similarity of the input and output pulses of the UWB LNA is qualified by the correlation coefficient of the input and output pulses. The characterization results show that the correlation coefficient of the input and output pulses can maintain higher than 0.9 when the peak to peak voltage of the input pulse is increased to 108 mV. And the simple investigation done in ADS shows that the high pass filtering can be performed in the output of the UWB LNA to improve the correlation coefficient of the input and output pulses when the peak to peak voltage of the input pulse is high.
