Tumormarker "human chorionic gonadotropin" (HCG) in the diagnosis of testicular tumors

The present overview article of the tumor marker human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) is published in the series tumor markers of the Zentralblatt fur Arbeitsmedizin, Arbeitsschutz und Ergonomie, and deals with the increasingly frequent use of the determination of specific markers in so-called manager preventive and check-up examinations. HCG is generally not suitable for the above listed measures, but for therapy, progression and recurrence control of testicular cancer. In these areas the latter shows high sensitivity and specificity. However, it is not suitable as ascreening marker.
