An Improved Control Strategy Based on DC Control System to Mitigate Commutation Failure

摘要
In order to reduce the commutation failure on the inverter side of traditional HVDC transmission, this paper analyzes the mechanism of commutation failure and the response of HVDC system before and after commutation failure caused by ac fault. Based on the shortcomings of dc control system, a traditional dc commutation failure control strategy based on fault and current detection is proposed. Simulation results in PSCAD/EMTDC show that the proposed control strategy can restrain the commutation failure and improve the system recovery after commutation failure to a certain extent.
