Investigation of stress concentration in cylindrical shells with polygonal holes

摘要
This work shows the research results of the stress concentration in axial compressed thin cylinders weakened by the polygonal holes in form of triangle and six-sided polygon with rounded corners. The stress concentration factors around the holes are defined using a proposed analytical solution based on the analytical functions of complex variable and conformal mapping, and compared with the experimental results obtained by the photoelastic frozen stress method on the specially designed and loaded models. The results agree with one another.
