MATHEMATICS AND TECHNOLOGY AS TIME GOES BY

This text represents an effort in order to show the role of mathematics "as time goes by", in the building of our actual civilization(s): We build a table in order to give a chronological and historical perspective showing the presence of mathematics along human history and focusing on its importance on technological developments. We expect this is an instrument that helps to develop interdisciplinarity approaches between mathematics and industry. With the table we aim also to recognize the contribution of a diversity of authors, coming from different cultures and civilizations, so that it prevents us from being too ethnocentric regarding science matters. This work might then be used either for future interdisciplinary research related with the economics of innovation, or for pedagogical purposes on adult and young people education, because it illuminates the question on "what is mathematics worth for".
