摘要
With the background of the recent rise in demand for home networks able to transmit high-quality images with stability, we examine an adaptive modulation technique using the "Pseudo Bit Error Rate (PBER)" technique, which is able to estimate the quality of a communication link quickly and accurately, allowing the modulation rate to be switched to the rate most suitable for the state of the network at that time, for the purpose of improving performance and increasing throughput. We propose the application of the adaptive modulation technique using the PBER to IEEE 802.11a, evaluating throughput performance under the AWGN and multi-path environment by computer simulation to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. The results of the evaluation show that the throughput performances are improved by about 30 percent compared with conventional adaptive modulation techniques under both environments, confirming the effectiveness of the proposed method in increasing the communication capacity in a wireless network and thereby allowing the transmission of high-quality images with stability.
