The use of field artillery in stability operations represents an important factorfor achieving the success, despite the fact, that, traditionally, this combat support arm is designed for a traditional approach to combat operations. Nevertheless, in modern conflicts, the way in which artillery is used is marking a shift in planning and executing the fire support as well as a change in the perception of the commanders and staff officers, in terms of the contribution artillery may have in a stability operations type scenario.
