摘要
This article describes and analyzes the role of the professional working in the Foster Care Team in the cultural and social singularity of the Brazilian and Portuguese context. It is his intention to respond to the challenge of highlighting the profile of this socio-educational and cultural intervention/mediation based on Social Education. In addition, discover knowledge, emotions, demands and answers that foster care embraces. This critical reflection is based on the analysis of political and institutional documents, and a set of articles, theses or manuals that resulted from scientific research carried out in both countries. In them stands out a set of testimonies from children, caregivers, families and professionals who seek to give a voice to those who experience foster care. Reflections are also brought up based on the authors' practical experience. Among the main results for specfic technical improvement and the construction of a meditative model where the professional can handle the context in question.
