Complications during general anesthesia in a foal with rupture of the urinary bladder

There is am increased Fisk of general anesthesia ire foals with rupture of the urinary bladder, In the following case report clinical signs, hematological changes and changes in blood chemistry are documented. The problems during general anesthesia (complete AV-block, asystole and cardiac fibrillation) are illustrated and the therapeutic management (reanimation) is described. This case shows the importance of preanesthetic abdominocentesis and the correction of the metabolic disorders in these foals.
