摘要
Through multimedia courseware, knowledge can be presented in a form of hierarchy concept map. In this study, we chose Biology subject as the proof of concept in our experiment. In learning the subject, students were required to imagine, visualize and memorize a lot of facts, shapes, concepts, and processes. They perceived Biology as a difficult and very unexciting subject, thus an assistant tool is required to facilitate them. In achieving that purpose, this study conducted a focus group discussion and interview, select, analyze and design a hierarchy concept map in a teaching and learning module that comprises a prototype application. The effectiveness and usability of the prototype has been evaluated. Based on the results, group A scored comparatively lower as compared to group B in the post-test with the mean score of 61.374 and 85.564 respectively, 24.19% effectiveness compared to conventional method. Respondents' perceptions and behaviors towards the visual representation of the knowledge were also positive. Therefore it can be concluded that a concept map that has been implemented in the courseware helps students to comprehend the lesson content.
