Implementation of Crime Prevention System Using Public Big Data

The crimes of murder, robbery, rape, theft, and assault are consistently increasing due to the recent long-term recession. In order to prevent these crimes, various researches have been conducted, but there is a problem that accuracy and reliability are low since various risk factors are not considered. In this paper, we propose a crime prevention system using public big data and GIS (Geographic Information System) technology. The proposed system collects and analyzes public data related to crime and calculates crime risk index by areas, the type of crimes the age group of victims, and the type of places. And it generates a crime risk map reflecting the calculated crime risk indexes. The proposed crime prevention system is expected to provide reliable crime risk information considering the areas, the type of crimes, the age group of victims, and the type of places.
