Fabrication of Diamond/SiC Composites by PIP Process

摘要
Diamond/SiC composites were fabricated by precursor infiltration and pyrolysis process (PIP) with polycarbosilane (PCS) as a precursor. The effect of the preparation parameters on the densification of the composites was investigated. The results show that the pyrolysis product (beta-SiC) exhibits better interfacial compatibility with alpha-SiC and Diamond in the composites, which is beneficial to the densification of Diamond/SiC composites. The preparation parameters such as compacting pressure and impregnation concentration as well as pre-oxidation treatment are the main factors influencing the density of Diamond/SiC composites. Highly dense Diamond/SiC composites can be obtained by PIP through 7 cycles from porous Diamond/SiC bodies.
