IT ARCHITECTURE FOR MANAGEMENT STUDENTS

IT architecture frameworks and methodologies like the Zachman framework and TOGAF have been designed for use by experienced business specialists within large corporations. Other IT architecture methodologies were created by consulting firms to support business and technical consultants in their IT related consulting work towards clients. These methodologies are unsuited to be taught to business students. Here, we present a conceptually simple IT architecture methodology, suited for teaching in a business curriculum, at both the undergraduate and the graduate level. We describe a number of practical cases, used in teaching the methodology and we report experiences with the teaching of this methodology at the Hogeschool-Universiteit Brussel (Belgium) and at an international summer school in information strategy in Hof (Germany).
