The bioaccumulation of 210Po and 210Pb in the southern Baltic organisms

The paper presents the results of Po-210 and Pb-210 determinations in three species of Baltic invertebrates, crustacean Saduria entomon, molluscs Mya arenarica and Mytilus trossulus Obtained data show significant differences in activity concentrations of both radionuclides in the tissues and organs examined. The highest values for Po-210 were found in hepatopancreas of Mytlius trossulus. Similar concentration effect is observed in the same organ of Saduria entomon. Po-210 is not significantly accumulated in haemolymph and gonads of crustacean as well as shell and fat of molluscs. Great disproportion between Po-210 and Pb-210 is observed in the hard tissues of Saduria entomon.
