Steel: Material for the 21st century

This special section consists of an industry overview by the American Iron and Steel Institute, followed by reports on the latest technology developments at member companies and a buyers guide listing the products of each. The American Iron and Steel Institute is a nonprofit association of North American companies comprised of 46 steel producers and 100 associate members. The producers include integrated, electric furnace, and reconstituted mills, and the associate members are suppliers to or customers Of the industry. Member companies account for more than two thirds of the raw steel produced in the United States, most of the steel manufactured in Canada, and nearly two thirds of the flat-rolled steel products manufactured in Mexico.
