Upgrading by decrilling of recovered paper material for the production of packaging paper

Within the framework of the European research project "Upgrading recycled fibers by appropriate treatment during stock preparation", briefly called "FIBREVIVAL", phenomena in the production of packaging paper which lead to the reduction of paper strength by multiple fibre recycling are being investigated. Voith Paper is contributing to this project by planning and undertaking industrial scale pilot trials in their Ravensburg stock preparation pilot plant. The aim of the trials is the development of process solutions that improve the strength and other paper properties of multiple recycled fibers, whereby flotation and washing processes, so-called "decrilling" stages, are combined with different types of mechanical fiber treatment.
