Transformation of a self-induced transparency soliton into a nonlinear Schrodinger soliton in doped fibers and semiconductor waveguides

摘要
A self-induced transparency soliton in a near-resonant two-level system exhibits properties of a nonlinear Schrodinger soliton. The interplay between near-resonant and nonresonant nonlinearities in doped fibers offers the possibility of effective control of the soliton's parameters. As an example, it is shown that st wide range of frequencies is suitable for nonlinear Schrodinger 2 pi soliton generation in semiconductors. (C) 1997 Optical Society of America.
