摘要
H.264/AVC is the newest worldwide video coding standard, jointly developed by using businesses from ISO/IEC and ITU-T, which targets at reaching improved compression efficiency and a network friendly video representation for different applications like storage, streaming and conversational. A powerful process of compression is proposed in this paper for video compression. In this work we concentrated more on improving the speed for H.264 with a specialized approach for fast intra prediction mode selection. During the MB division texture information of the frame is considered for 4 x4 and 16 x 16 blocks. The obtained 4 x4 is again checked for homogeneity (Using DHT transformation) for best mode selection is based on threshold comparison. If the homogeneity value is less than threshold then we'll directly apply the DC mode for prediction. All the 4 modes of prediction are applied on the 16 x16 blocks for Intra prediction. For the chroma planes DC mode is directly applied on the 8x8 block. Hence the total no of modes will be 1 x (2 x 16+4) = 36. This phase mainly concentrated on PSNR value for the obtained predicted frame. Hence the Interpolation is done on obtained predicted block to get the smoothed output with better quality. Entire Implementation is done using MATLAB Software.
