A novel congestion-based pricing scheme for QoS-enabled networks

Implementations of newly proposed QoS mechanisms can maintain satisfactory service level for a variety of delay-sensitive applications. Several network-pricing schemes have been associated with QoS mechanisms to give customers the incentives to use the network resources more efficiently. In addition, congestion-based pricing schemes were introduced in order to provide more support to customers with regard to their requested services. This paper proposes a novel edge-to-edge congestion-based pricing scheme that is based on a finite number of congestion levels, where each of these levels is associated with an individual price plan. This paper also provides a detailed overview of current QoS pricing schemes.
