Various beta-alkylthio acid derivatives were prepared conveniently from thioacetates and alpha,beta-unsaturated compounds through borohydride exchange resin (BER)-Pd catalyzed transesterification of thioacetates to the corresponding thiols and Michael addition of the resulting thiols to alpha,beta-unsaturated compounds.
