Water filter materials were prepared from the mixtures of zeolite, bentonite, kaolinite, and charcoal powder, fired to temperatures from 1000 to 1100 degrees C. The effects of charcoal powder and firing temperature on porosity of filter materials were studied. The results show that the filter materials prepared at 1000 degrees C, from the mixtures of 85.00 mass% zeolite, 8.00 mass% bentonite, 6.00-6.50 mass% kaolinite, and 0.50-1.00 mass% charcoal powder, have a uniform pore size of 03 mu m. The main components of the filter materials are heulandites, mordenite, cristobalite, montrnorillonite, mullite, and hematite. (C) 2013 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
