Laparoscopic Management of a Rare Case of Ruptured Ovarian Dermoid Tumour with Vaginal Fistula

Ovarian mature cystic teratoma or dermoid cysts are common benign tumour which can present with several complications like torsion, spontaneous rupture, malignant transformation, or rarely endocrine manifestations. Spontaneous rupture can occur into the peritoneal cavity causing chemical peritonitis or more rarely into hollow viscus. Adjacent organs, namely urinary bladder and the rectum, are mostly reported to have developed fistulous tracts with spontaneously ruptured dermoid cyst causing peculiar systems like hair in urine or stool. We present a rare case of spontaneous rupture of benign ovarian dermoid cyst into vagina, a very rarely reported site, challenges in its diagnosis and its subsequent laparoscopic management.
