Response and economics in relation to nitrogen and phosphorus nutrition in gobhi sarson (Brassica napus subsp oleifera var. annua) under rainfed conditions

A field experiment was conducted during winter (rabi) season of 1993-94 and 1994-95 at Kangra with gobhi sarson (Brassica napus L, subsp. oleifera var. annua L,) to study the effect of different nitrogen and phosphorus levels on yield, nutrient uptake and economics under rainfed condition for clay loam (typic hepludalf) soil of 120 cm in depth in mid-hills of Himachal Pradesh. Application of 120 kg N and 40 kg P2O5/ha significantly increased the seed yield along with the uptake of N and P with increasing levels of each nutrient. The highest net returns were obtained from 120 kg N and 40 kg P2O5/ha. The optimum levels of nitrogen and phosphorus were worked out as 164 and 42 kg/ha respectively.
