A Frequency Selective Surface in Multilayer Techniques for Single Reflector Offset Antennas in Ku- and Ka-Band

摘要
We present a Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) for a single offset reflector antenna with a large aspect angle. With this approach, we substantially increased the functionality of an existing Ka-band terminal. The added FSS allows us to use internet services and to receive simultaneously TV channels from satellites located on the same or a close longitude. The FSS has a high pass characteristic, the high band is in K- and Ka-band, whereas the low band is in Ku-band. The FSS is built in multilayer techniques. Cost effective standard manufacturing processes can be used. Full wave simulation and measurement results of a single FSS and of a FSS integrated into the internet terminal are presented in Ku-, K- and Ka-band.
