摘要
SiO2-coated L1(0)-FePt nanoparticles were successfully synthesized by the sol-gel method, and the effects of SiO2 content on the.structure and magnetic properties of the samples were investigated. Thanks to a silica coating, agglomeration is restrained even if the annealing temperature increases up to 700 degrees C, and the silica shells decrease magnetic dipole coupling between FePt nanoparticles. The results of energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) analysis further testify that the L1(0)-FePt NPs are successfully coated with SiO2. The SiO2-coated L1(0)-FePt nanoparticles show a high coercivity of 8096 Oe at room temperature in spite of their core size of only 7 nm in diameter. (c) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
