In today's operating room, innovative methods and tools increase productivity, reduce patient trauma, and improve health care economics. Digital imaging and networking assist decision-making - practically, in real time during surgery and with 3-D reconstructions of surgical planning. The operating environment is further enhanced by nonstop monitoring and life-support equipment. Accordingly, research and clinical studies are becoming more important for medical technology assessment and thus deserve more financial support.
