摘要
Genetic engineering has been around for at least three decades and recombinant DNA methods have been the mainstay of modern research, however, there is little in common with other engineering fields. This has to do with the tools available for building biological parts having not yet reached a level of standardization and utility equal to other engineering fields. Also the methods and mind-sets in biology are very different.
