Whilst it is generally believed that a Fermi-liquid description is appropriate for cuprates beyond the superconducting dome, experimental evidence to support this claim has been inconclusive. Moreover, the relevance of Landau's phenomenology to other regions of the phase diagram is hotly disputed. In this paper, we highlight new experimental evidence that seems to confirm the fermionic nature of charge carriers at high doping and introduce a phenomenological model that can reconcile many of the seemingly anomalous transport properties of lower doped cuprates within a framework based on fermionic quasiparticles.
