Corrosion of carbon steel 1018 under steam generator conditions

摘要
Corrosion of type 1018 carbon steel (CS) was studied under normal and faulted steam generator (SG) secondary side operating conditions,:which included simulated bulk SG water and crevice chemistry conditions resulting from an acid excursion. Electrochemical analysis and immersion tests were performed in static and refreshed autoclave systems. A specially designed flow stand was employed to study the flow-impingement effect on CS corrosion. The effects of water chemistry, boric acid addition and the alternate exposure to water and steam on CS corrosion were evaluated.
