Recognizing and managing diabetes-related emergencies

摘要：
The most common diabetes-related emergencies are hypoglycemia, diabetic ketoacidosis (Type 1) and hyperosmolar hyperglycemic nonketotic coma (Type 2). Hypoglycemia is the most frequently encountered risk in Type 1 diabetes, and some patients might suffer from hypoglycemic-unawareness syndrome. All these emergencies are preventable with good blood glucose regulation and monitoring.
