摘要
This paper discusses a widespread practice of municipal solid waste (MSW) storage in dumps in open sites and in landscape depressions in Russia, which leads to numerous ecological disturbances, environmental pollution, and the deterioration of human life quality. The uncontrolled waste management and lack of a scientific approach to this kind of economic activity have proven to be the main cause of these disturbances. A technogenic and nature-like technology is proposed for creating safe landfills, based on biological decomposition using a drainage system and utilization of waste gases and filtration effluents. The role of geological conditions in the creation of safe landfills is shown. It is noted that the use of landfill technology may form the basis of MSW management in Russia. It will ensure the safety of this MSW management system and reduce significant waste management costs.
