摘要
This paper investigates the relationships between various factors and severity of different types of injuries at junction locations in Hong Kong. The effects of three types of contributory factors on injury severity are examined in this paper. They are classified as environmental factors, site factors and vehicle factor. Binary logistic regression is used to examine the relationships between injury severity and the contributory factors concerned. Two models are calibrated for pedestrian, and driver/passenger injuries respectively based on the injury data at junction locations from 2007 to 2009. These injury data are obtained from the traffic accident database system in the Hong Kong Transport Department. It is concluded that accident time, speed limit, road type, and vehicle type statistically significantly affect the severity of injuries. However, there are different effects of these contributory factors (such as the vehicle type) on pedestrian and driver/passenger injuries.
