The Concept of Order in Portugal (18th and 19th Centuries)

Written for volume two of the Diccionario politico y social del mundo iberoamericano, edited by Fernandez Sebastian (2011), this article follows the so-called history of concepts by Koselleck and his collaborators in order to examine the concept of order in Portugal, from the conception inherited from the society of the ancient regime, through the vicissitudes of nineteenth-century liberalism, to the first signs of socialist ideas.
