摘要
In this research, we seek to systematically study into the effects of different kinds of initial conditions on numerical simulations of tsunami propagation. Nowadays, powerful Navier Stokes codes with non hydrostatic and non linear terms are available to study the tsunami propagation over complex bathymetries. The study case will be the India Ocean, body leading to Banda Aceh, Andaman Sea and Malacca Straits for its location as a corridor for tsunami propagation with well determined limits. A model based on finite elements is used in this study. The verification of the code is established using available run-up data from the last 2004 Indonesian tsunami. A discussion on the results is done and some preliminary conclusion is then attempted on the relative merits of the different kinds of initial condition in the light of the 2004 Indonesian tsunami data.
