摘要
The article on archival materials analyzes the contradictory influence of the events of the Cold War on Soviet sport. In the context of the confrontation that has begun, the largest international sports forums have become the arena in which the warring parties tried to prove to the world the advantages of their social system. Thanks to the power to win at any cost, in the USSR the spontaneous process of professionalization of high-performance sports has gained an institutional framework. Members and then candidates for the national teams of the country received an unofficial, but official status, providing for remuneration for sports work, and sports were recognized as work covered by labor law. © 2020, Russian Academy of Sciences.
