摘要
Identifying the social representations of the formative practices carried out in Barranquilla's Carnival and the relationship that these have with the traditions, is the main goal of this research. In the methodological process, the "Congo" dance was taken as the population, because it is one of the oldest in the Carnival; ethnography and the theory of social representations are used to explain the way in which traditions are transmitted, based on the information of the participants; in the field of the representation, the attitude and the mechanisms of objectification and anchoring. The resistance to the symbolic appropriation of the traditional and the tension between the young people, the ancestors and the institutionality's interests, are among others the information which is implicit in the representations created from the development of the teaching practices of the "Congo" dance.
