摘要
A method of modeling paper deformation in a rolling nip is proposed. This nonlinear viscoelastic model was developed to predict the strain response of paper subjected to a compressive pressure pulse in a calender nip. The proposed model was verified using data gathered from tests of 110-g/m(2) writing paper and 150-g/m(2) paperboard. The analytical description of paper deformation in a calender nip has practical applications and can be used to predict such web characteristics as thickness, density, compressibility, and thickness uniformity after calendering.
