摘要
Multi-purpose geochemical mapping at a scale of 1:1,000,000 is being carried out in Russia in a series of stages: (1) pre-survey stage: multi-factor zoning of the territory, landscape geochemistry, metallogeny and economic conditions; (2) within each area, quasi-homogeneous cells are designated (generally 1 cm(2) on map sheet); (3) sampling is carried out within the cells; (4) quantitative analyses of data; (5) systematic plotting and publishing of a set of 9-12 thematic maps. These maps allow an understanding of the geochemical nature of the rock assemblages, the mineral potential of the area, the ecological situation, soil fertility and chemical pollution level of the arable horizon, and recommendations on nature management. This approach is illustrated by the East Transbaikal area, SE Siberia. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
